AUT Qualification/ Validation
AUT project specific qualification/ validation is a repetitive process which ANDTI can review on location from start to finish. ANDTI will ensure that processes and procedures are followed.
Level 3 review
Qualified ANDTI Consultants are experienced to write or review inspection procedures and review inspection data at remote locations.

 PAUT Inspection of LNG Storage Tanks

ANDTI offers services for the ultrasonic examination of LNG storage tanks and associated piping.

LNG storage tanks have an inner tank shell constructed from 9% nickel. The welding process uses an austenitic welding material which is required as it avoids the weld material becoming brittle and causing failure when the natural gas is cooled down into fluid, at temperatures of -163°C.

The austenitic weld material is coarse grained and anisotropic, making this material difficult to examine with ultrasonic sound.

ANDTI engineers have in excess of 20 years of experience with ultrasonic examination of LNG inner storage tanks and piping work. The examination is developed in such a way that the impact of NDT activities is minimized and as such can assist in reducing the inner tank construction schedule. The sectorial Phased Array technique, combining both shear wave and compression wave inspection guarantee a complete inspection of the welds, including the heat effected zone. The phased array DLA probes include specific techniques, such as:
•    Creep wave, for the detection of surface breaking flaws
•    Round Trip Tandem, for the detection of solidification cracking
The developed inspection system meets the requirements of international codes and client standards, such as:

API 620, BS/EN 14620-2, ISO 9001, ASME BPVC Section V - Article 4, ISO 22825 and ASNT SNT-TC 1A

The inspection system tests the full weld and HAZ in a single scan with all data being available in "real time" this allows the interpretation of the weld to be conducted with the minimum time delay at site - thus providing instant feedback to the construction company regarding weld quality and the acceptance of welds.

The inspection system is mobile, enabling the operators to work independently and flexible during Tank construction and with all test data being electronic, third party review (code requirement) can be conducted remotely.

ANDTI also provides the service for third party inspection for procedure, qualification/ validation and data review.
